If the truckers move a Transponder from one truck to another, what happens? Is each transponder assigned to a VIN #?
The adhesive on the transponder is meant to permanent. It may be impossible to affix it securely to a second surface once it is removed.Each transponder is assigned to the VIN and license # of a specific vehicle. If the participant intends to move the transponder to another vehicle, they need make that request to MS/CVE.
How and by whom are the Transponders supposed to be installed?
They may be installed by the vehicle drivers or by the Company representative.
How and where should the Transponders be installed?
They are installed simply by removing the adhesive protection from the back and affixing them to the interior windshield, as per the instructions which will accompany the transponders. If requested, an MS/CVE representative can be made available to instruct a vendor representative on initial installations.
What is the battery life of the Transponders? How are they to be replaced?
No replaceable batteries. Based on 2 transaction per day, it lasts up to 4.4 years. Based on 10 transactions per day, 3.7 years, minimum. The Department may choose to replace them at that time.
What lights are shown, and what do they mean?
Green - means the driver is free to pass by the weigh station.
Red - means there is some issue with the truck, and the driver is
required to pull into the weigh station. If the driver does not pull in, an
inspector will pull them over down the road.
Yellow – Not used in this application (diagnostics check)
